The Guangxing canal irrigation system has 1 main canal and 3 lateral canals. The main canal is approximately 1,919 meters in length and is the canal on which the Guangxing Irrigation District mainly relies. Although the water supply at the water inlet has been stable in recent years, there is still often no water available at the end of the canal. According to investigations, the canal has been poorly maintained over the years, with many old and damaged sections, and water is lost along its length, so there is no water available at the end of the main canal.
With the 2021 Xindian maintenance engineering project (open contract), a miscellaneous canal repair engineering project was implemented. The repair and dredging of canal maintenance work along the main line of Guangxing Canal 0k+034~0k+137 was prioritized. Upon completion, the water flow of the repaired section clearly increased and water loss significantly reduced, with impressive improvement in the canal’s water supply.
