Irrigation Areas

The office’s operational area includes parts of the area south of the Keelung River in Taipei District, as well as Xindian District, Shenkeng District, Shiding District and Pinglin District in New Taipei City. The irrigated farmland under its jurisdiction has gradually been transformed into a prosperous urban area, and the nature of services provided is very different from the past. Nonetheless, the sustainable management of irrigation operations remains the "core work" of the office.

Since 1989, the office has actively promoted dry farming irrigation in line with government policies and in response to changes in agricultural conditions, helping associated businesses in the jurisdiction set up dry farming irrigation facilities and systems; starting in 1995, the office has cooperated with the Pinglin District Farmers Association to implement the "Tea Farm Irrigation Demonstration Zone Project”; after long-term planning and consultation the Agricultural Engineering Research Center was commissioned to investigate, plan and design with construction started on April 7, 1998. Many difficulties were encountered during the project but fortunately, the competent authorities provided full assistance and the local farmers' association fully cooperated. With the efforts of various parties, the project was completed in January 1998 with remarkable results. Since 2001, the results from dry farming irrigation operations have been outstanding.
